ISLAMABAD: Former Higher Educ
ation Commission (HEC) chairman Dr Attaur Rehman said that the government was eager to dissolve the HEC through the 18th Amendment as the
commiss
ion was revealing the fake degrees of parliamentarians.
While g
iving an interview to a media group, Rehman said that form
ation of national development programmes, verific
ation of degrees and maintenance of quality educ
ation could be obstructed by g
iving the powers of higher educ
ation to provinces under 18th Amendment.
With poor and incompetent policies of governments, the quality of educ
ation has been reducing day by day. Moreover, with an increase in budget allocated for educ
ation by the current government, the quality of educ
ation has elevated significantly.
There is
no Pakistani university included in the top 100 universities due to the poor policies and decisions made by the governments.
Rehman said the government should focus on providing quality educ
ation to 100 million competent students who were an asset to Pakistan’s future.
